In each Google Slides activity, students will focus on reading and spelling one sight word through a variety of 6 fun and interactive activities. This allows you to more easily mix up cards and handle them like a regular card deck.Your students will love practicing their Dolch third grade sight words with these Digital Sight Word Activities. This is a great way to relate how words are used within a sentence.Ĭonsider printing cards on heavier weight card stock and even cary the colors some. When reading a book, pause on one of the words and ask your child/student to find that word on the table. Similar to the idea above, place 5 or 10 cards on the table. Optionally, you can then ask the student to find the word in another stack. This gives your student the opportunity to say, “hey, that word isn’t here!”. After a few times, you can have some fun here saying a word that isn’t on the table. Then, say one of the words and ask the student to point at the right word. Place 5 or 10 flash cards face up on the table. This one is a bit more engaging for children.The first is the traditional way to use flash cards, which is to mix the cards up and then ask your child to say the word shown.There are several engaging ways to teach your child or students using Dolch flash cards. This activity not only reinforces sight word recognition but also encourages observation and exploration of the world around us! If the sight word is, “the” you might ask them to use the word in a sentence with “rock”, “the rock is laying on the ground”. As a simple example, let’s say your child sees a rock. As you walk, have your child look for objects in nature that and then use one of the sight words in a sentence with that object.
